Abdulu Mahuridi is a researcher and PhD candidate in Public Health at the University of Lubumbashi. He is a member of the UrbanMat project, a component of the international UrbanBirth Collective consortium, which includes Benin, Guinea, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. A specialist in epidemiology, maternal health, quality of care, and clinical governance, he develops particular expertise on the geographical accessibility of obstetric care in urban areas. His current research highlights the challenges of maternal healthcare access in high-density urban settings, where the availability of health facilities does not necessarily guarantee real accessibility or favourable outcomes. Convinced that "geospatial is life," he works to reveal the invisible barriers that influence maternal trajectories in the search for care and contribute to preventable maternal deaths.
