Felipe Dutra Rêgo is a medical entomologist and public health researcher at the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) in Antwerp. His research focuses on the ecology and transmission dynamics of vector-borne diseases, particularly leishmaniasis and other neglected tropical diseases.
Over the past decade, he has investigated the ecological processes that shape vector-borne disease transmission in endemic settings. His current research explores how plant–vector interactions and sugar-feeding behaviour influence vector biology and pathogen transmission.
Through the MOSAIC project, funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions programme, he combines field ecology, molecular tools, bioinformatics, and predictive modelling to investigate the role of plant-derived compounds in mosquito- and sand fly-borne diseases and to support the development of innovative and sustainable vector control strategies.
