Dr Ilesh Jani is a Senior Scientist at Mozambique's National Institute of Health. He earned his medical degree in Mozambique and a PhD in Medicine in the United Kingdom. Dr Jani has over 25 years of experience in research, public health, and health systems strengthening, having made significant contributions to advancing evidence-informed health policies in Mozambique and globally. He previously served as Director-General of the National Institute of Health and as Vice Minister of Health in Mozambique.

Dr Jani contributed to several international advisory bodies and is currently the chair of the steering committee of the Global Task Force on Cholera Control (GTFCC). He has over 140 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
