Meron Asmamaw is a Lecturer and Junior Researcher at the University of Gondar, Ethiopia. Her research interests and experience lie in epidemiology, machine learning, mathematical modelling, and genomic data analysis to support infectious disease surveillance and elimination programmes. She has authored more than 50 scientific publications, including about 10 as Principal Investigator.

She currently serves as Principal Investigator under the CORAL programme, a Belgian Government-funded programme sponsored by the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM), conducting a multi-method study on treatment-seeking behaviour among visceral leishmaniasis-affected pastoralist communities in southern Ethiopia, with the aim of supporting equitable access to healthcare for vulnerable populations. The project is co-supervised by senior researchers from ITM, the Armauer Hansen Research Institute, and the University of Gondar.

She will present preliminary findings from this project at the ITM Colloquium 2026.
