Dr Mukesh Poudel is a Consultant Tropical Medicine Physician with the Government of Nepal and holds an MD in Community Medicine and Tropical Diseases. He has extensive experience in infectious disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, field epidemiology, and health emergency preparedness and response. He has led Nepal's Central Rapid Response Team during outbreak investigations and public health emergencies, working closely with national and provincial health authorities to strengthen surveillance and response systems. His research interests include tropical medicine, emerging infectious diseases, climate-sensitive diseases, One Health, and operational research to support evidence-based public health practice. Dr Poudel is currently a Fellow of the International Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) in Thailand, further advancing his expertise in applied epidemiology and global health security. He is passionate about translating research into policy and practice to build resilient health systems and improve health outcomes in resource-limited settings.
