Samson Gebremedhin is Professor of Public Health Nutrition at the School of Public Health, Addis Ababa University. He holds a PhD from Addis Ababa University, and his research focuses on maternal and child nutrition and health, diet-related non-communicable diseases, and food systems.
At Project HOPE Ethiopia, he currently leads the Pathways for Ethiopia project, which uses vulnerability-based population segmentation analyses to design and implement precision public health interventions aimed at improving Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCH+N) outcomes.
Samson has served as a member of the joint FAO/WHO Expert Group on Nutrient Requirements for Children. He is also the recipient of the Best Senior Public Health Researcher Award from the Ethiopian Public Health Association (2024) and the Public Health Officers Association of Ethiopia (2025), in recognition of his contributions to public health research in Ethiopia.
In addition, he has served on the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed journals, including PLOS ONE, BMC Public Health, BMC Pediatrics, and the Ethiopian Journal of Health Development.
