Caroline De Schacht is a public health researcher. She graduated from Medical School at the University of Ghent (Belgium), specialized in Family Medicine, and obtained an MSc degree in Clinical Trials (2008) from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (UK) and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences (2015), studying Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV in Mozambique (University of Ghent, Belgium).
She has worked as a clinical/technical advisor and medical epidemiologist in African and Asian countries, of which the last 20 years in Mozambique. She led various clinical and public health evaluations in the field of HIV prevention and care, Mother and Child Health, Enlarged Vaccination Program, and COVID-19. Caroline is currently a researcher at the Department of Public Health at the Institute of Tropical Medicine. Her research interests are HIV, NCDs, and integration of health services, with a focus on implementation science. She has authored and co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
