Peter Macharia is a geospatial health scientist based at the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Belgium, and a visiting scientist at KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme, Nairobi, Kenya.He works at the intersection of geospatial methods and their applications to global health challenges in SSA. His primary research focuses on developing spatial health metrics to advance understanding of population health disparities, inequalities, and vulnerabilities at fine spatial and temporal scales. His interests include geographic access to healthcare, marginalisation, intervention coverage, disease prevalence, and their associated determinants. He holds a PhD in Spatial Epidemiology, an MSc in GIS and Remote Sensing, a PgDip in Health Research, and a BSc in Geomatic Engineering and GIS.
